Program Change!

I was going to post the last of my indie stash but I know none of you really care about that, right? Instead I'm going to show you Candeo Colors Orchid. As you probably know, I've been trying to grow out my natural nails for almost 2 months now and after lots of frustrations I've decided to bring back the gels. My nails grow SO slow and every time I got some length they would just split or tear down to the quick and I'm getting so tired of not being able to do my nails the way I want to so this really seemed like the best option for me at this time. I really applaud all the ladies out there who can grow your natural nails and I envy you. 5 years of gels and 20+ years of biting my nails probably really killed it for me :(

Anyway, on to the polish. I've been eyeing Candeo for a while now and I finally caught a restock and grabbed Orchid and Poison Frog. Orchid is a vivid purple magenta jelly base with lots of holo hexes and micro glitters. Its so pretty in the bottle and on the nail and isn't like anything I've seen from other indie sellers. I used 3 coats with 2 coats of diamond dry just to get it nice and smooth. Application was great and it built up nicely. Its still a little on the sheer side but if you wanted it more opaque you could add a 4th coat.

What do you think of this color? Would you like to see the rest of my stash? I'd like to hear what you have to say :)

Stash Post Part 1

Since my nails are in terrible condition I decided to start doing some stash posts. I'm right around the 200 polish mark so I think this is as good time to start! First I'll be showing you all my indie polishes. I've broken them up into 3 posts because I have so many of them! I tried to get the best picture that shows whats actually in the bottle so some of them are turned and others are not. If you see anything specific that you want to see on, let me know and I will do my best to post it!

I'll Never Glow Up!

I know I said I wouldn't be posting as much since my nails are so painfully (literally) short but I thought this was too cool to pass up. Not too long ago I made my first purchase from Michelle's Sonnetarium etsy shop and I picked up Lotta Zebra and Never Glow Up. Never Glow Up is what I'm going to show you now because its so awesome. When I was about 10 years old I talked my grandma into letting me paint her nails a dark navy color with craft glitter stuck all over it. I'm sure the application was horrible, there was no clean up and there was certainly no top coat! Anyway, I neglected to tell her that the glitter was glow in the dark... in a half sleep state in the middle of the night she thought her glowing nails were bugs in bed with her and panicked and proceeded to beat her hands to death to kill the bugs. When I saw Never Glow Up I instantly thought of my grandma and I had to have it. She will never let me paint her nails again, I'm sure, but maybe I can try to sneak this one in...

I know this is blurry but this is the closest I could get to color accurate with my camera. This is about 4-ish coats with top coat. Its a little thick and sheer so thin coats are a must! Its a nice blueish-turquoise base with lots of fine glitter. Its a very pretty polish and the glow just gives it extra points in my book!

Playing around with different angles and watermarks...

I had to "charge" my nails in front of a light bulb for a few seconds to make it glow this brightly to get my camera to capture it. I was so excited that my camera actually got the glow! Next time I wear these, I will not "charge" them right before bed! I spent at least an hour waving my hands around and staring at my nails! LOL

How do you feel about glow in the dark polish?? I wish there were more awesome ones out there that weren't just neon!

Anniversary Nails: Essie Bazooka!

My nails are painfully short but I wanted to post my anniversary nails from last weekend. I used 3 coats of Essie Bazooka, a super pretty orange-ish jelly. I love this color and especially in jelly form, total winner for me! Then I added gold hex glitters to all my nails except my ring finger. On my ring finger I added one coat of Candy Lacquer Gold Nuggets which is a clear base FULL of gold shards. I love the orange and gold combo even though I'm not a fan of gold anything. I can make an exception on my nails, I suppose. Then I added some studs. If you can't tell, I LOVE my goodies from the Born Pretty Store and I can't wait to order more studs and stuff from them. By the way, I have to say I got my inspiration for all these goodies from The Nailasaurus, she always done some really cool and fun designs with this stuff. I only got to wear these for a few days because I can't keep polish from peeling to save my life.

I am so in love with the studs and hex glitters! Do you think you could handle the 3-D stuff on your nails? I'd love to hear what you think!!

Since my nails are having some major issues, I probably won't be posting much until I get some more length or unless I have something SUPER awesome to show you. My nails are so thin from taking my gels off that every time I get some length they rip down to the quick :( If you have any suggestions, please let me know! Until next time :)

Enchanted Polish holographics

I'll make this short and sweet since the last one was pretty long.

When llarowe announced that most of the Enchanted Polish line was being discontinued I grabbed a few of the holos I had lemmings for. I got Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Gummy Worm, Sour Patch Kid, and Vampire's Dessert. I love holographics and I just HAD to have them. I used Lucy and Gummy Worm first. 2 coats of each plus top coat which did not dull the holo effect at all. I loved this simple yet beautiful mani.

Both photos were taken outside and as you can see, the holo is a little stronger in Lucy than it is in Gummy Worm but they are both gorgeous none the less.

How do you feel about holos? Do you have any lemmings??

~P.S. Notice I'm finally getting some length back to my nubs?? Yay!! :)

Sephora + Pantone Universe

I hope you all had a great weekend! This weekend my husband and I celebrated our first anniversary so we took a 5 day weekend and spent lots of time together. On Friday we went to Sephora and he bought me the Pantone Universe nail polish set that I had been eyeing for a while. I love this set because all 4 colors are the same but they are all in different finishes. There is a creme, a matte, a shimmer and a glitter. I decided I needed to use all of them at the same time and I just happened to get all my stuff from the Born Pretty Store on the same day so I incorporated that as well.

I used 3 coats of Tangerine Tango creme on all fingers except my ring finger which I painted with 2 coats of Tangerine Tango matte. On my pinkie I added Tangerine Tango glitter and on the other 3 fingers added Tangerine Tango shimmer. Then I added the black leopard spots using a dotting tool and added studs and hex glitters with a little top coat. I finished with a couple coats of top coat (except on the leopard spots) and VOILA! I really loved this mani but I was so sad my cuticles were so angry, please excuse the redness, I tried to get as much of it out of there as I could :(

All of these polishes applied like a dream, even the matte! I did have a little staining that I'm sure you can see in my cuticles so be careful if you have these. I'm really digging the oranges this summer, what do you think about the pantone color?

Have a great day! :)

4th of July FAIL!

I hope you all had an awesome 4th! I know I did! I went to Boca Reservoir with my friend and her family and we went out on the boat and went tubing. Then I had to come back to town to work but finished the night off with BBQ steaks and mac and cheese with my hubby :)

I totally meant to post these on the 4th but I got busy and just kind of forgot... they didn't turn out the best but I thought I'd post them anyway. I used OPI Big Apple Red, China Glaze White on White, and Essence Just Rock It. I used Julep America on my pinkie finger and stamped the stars and stripes. The stripes came out really muted so I attempted to dark them up and in the process made them look not so nice. Then I put my top coat on too early and smeared them. Ah!

Elixir Lacquers Supa Sugar Bee

This post is going to be short and sweet today.

I got this from a blog sale from Things I Love At The Moment. I got Elixir Lacquers Supa Sugar Bee, a purple/pink holographic glitter with a shimmery base. I also got Alter Ego Desert Storm Trigger Puller, which I will post another time. I love SSB because it is SO sparkly and of course, I love the holo! I decided to layer it over OPI Pack Your Booty Shorts because it is so sheer, I don't think it could be opaque on its own. Then I decided to add a little something. I recently got some striping brushes and wanted to test them out. I planned on doing a white/purple plaid but that did NOT go well so I stuck with 2 simple lines, alternating positions on my nails. Then I added the rhinestones because they just make everything better! Sorry for the tip wear, I had worn these for a few days before I took the pictures and I had a little shrinkage (ARHHH).

Sorry again for the HORRIBLE photo!!
