Super Nubbins Nail Art

I've been trying to find a manicure that I feel comfortable posting because my nails are SO short and I think I've finally got one! I'm starting to get a little length on my nails so I'm feeling much better about it but I still don't have enough length to get the shape quite right. Anyway, lets get on with the manicure.

This is Lush Lacquer's Fuzzy Peaches. The description given on the Lush Lacquer etsy shop says "Fuzzy Peaches is a beautiful semi-sheer orange base with a mixture of glitter....silver, gold and orange hologram glitter are used throughout in different sizes." Its that and a whole lot more.. this polish is just beautiful! I'm generally not a fan of bar glitter because it curls up and sticks out all over the place but with this I had no problems with that at all. There is no shortage of glitter in this polish and you do not need to fish at all! As far as application goes, it is VERY thick so you need to wipe the brush on the neck of the bottle but other than that, it goes on smooth and even. I used 2 coats and 2 coats of Sally Hansen Double Duty. I've been having shrinking problems with Seche Vite so I am trying my alternatives right now until I can get more length and can start wrapping the tips of my nails without getting polish EVERYWHERE! This morning I used 1 coat of Savina fast drying top coat and so far no shrinkage! I loved this polish plain but I decided I wanted to try some nail art with it. I didn't want to stamp because I didn't want to cover this pretty polish so I decided to do an accent nail leopard print. I used China Glaze Peachy Keen and Finger Paints Black Expressionism with a dotting tool to create the leopard print. I followed up with 1 more coat of Savina.

I love how sparkly Fuzzy Peaches is! Even though it is pretty sheer, I actually like it. If I had more length on my nails there would definitely be VNL but since I don't have a nail line, there's nothing to worry about!! This would be really nice over nude or brown!

Enchanted Polish Cranberry Cosmos

This will be the first post of my shorter nails, not the super nubbins, but the ones before that. Sigh...

I picked up this Enchanted Polish when Llarowe was running a 49% off sale for her birthday. I am so in love with all the holos from Enchanted polish but everything was sold out so it made my decision very easy. I decided on Cranberry Cosmos, a cranberry colored holo which is absolutely amazing! I love anything holographic so this is already a favorite for me. This is my first Enchanted Polish purchase and it definitely will not be my last! Application was a breeze, it practically applied itself. The holo in this was just awesome and it wasn't too disappointing in low lighting either.

There are a lot of pictures of this one because it is just so awesome!

Check out that holo goodness!! I can't even tell you how much I love this polish and I can't wait to get my hands on a few more of these babies!

Daring Digits Ice Age

So, I've got a confession to make... While I was on vacation a few weeks ago I decided to shorten my nails (a lot) and filed off all the gel. I wanted to start going for a more natural look and I was really just tired of the maintenance on the gels. I did them myself for about a month and I'm really just over it. In the next post you'll see the result of that decision. It lasted for about a week but since my nails were so thin, they started peeling off (the gel/tips) so I decided to take them off all together. Now I have ULTRA nubbins and it sucks. I've been trying to grow them out over the last 10 days or so and so far its not going well. Luckily all my nails, except my thumb, on my photo hand are looking ok, they aren't at the quick or anything but they are definitely a lot shorter than I would like. I tried OPI nail envy and I can't keep it on, it just keeps peeling off. So, at this point, I'm just going to see what happens and hope for the best. I started taking a hair/nail vitamin with 5000 mcg of biotin so I'm hoping that will help too. With that said, be prepared for some super short nails in the up coming posts.

Now on to the mani!! This is one I did in San Diego while I was on vacation and I LOVE it! This is Daring Digits Ice Age over 2 coats of Ulta Mint Condition with 2 dabbed coats of Ice Age and 2 coats of Seche Vite. This polish has big white hexes, smaller white hexes, and a very pretty blue glitter in a clear base. The name is perfect, I don't think anything else would have been better. Application was pretty easy although it was a little thick and the large white hexes settle at the bottom and sides and are a little more difficult to fish out. I also got really lucky with the sun because it was overcast most of the time I was there! Win!! These pictures aren't the best because the blue glitter kind of looks silver.

You can see the blue color on the edges of my nails in these 2 pictures.

What do you think of Daring Digits Ice Age??

Aqua Daisy Purple Heart

I can't believe I went ANOTHER week without posting! I've been swamped with work so I really just have not had the motivation to sit down and post but I PROMISE that I will get on the ball.

Today I have AquaDaisy's Purple Heart to show you. I think I really love all indie polishes and I'm on a mission to have them all! I wasn't too sure about this one but I'm really glad I decided to get it. It is a dark purple jelly base with lots of gold hexes and holo micro glitter. LOVE! It looks like it would be similar to PB&J but this is much darker and the glitter is a little different. I used 3 coats on its own and it was perfectly opaque. You could probably do an awesome jelly sandwich with this if you didn't want to use that much of it. hmm good idea!

I didn't get a lot of pictures of this, unfortunately, but I didn't realize it till long after I had taken it off :(
How pretty is this, though??

Rodeo Time!

Wow.. Its been a long time since I've done a post. Sorry about that! I'm finally back from vacation and I have a TON of stuff to show you!!

The Reno Rodeo starts today so I thought I'd share Candy Lacquer's Blue Rodeo. I loved this polish the second I saw it because its so different! Its got blue, brown, copper, and silver glitters all packed in a clear base. Let me tell you, this polish is SO full of glitter that there's NO fishing needed. I also like that there's a lot of different sizes and shapes, even bar glitter. I did two coats over two coats of Essence Just Rock It, a dark navy blue polish. Next time I wear this I will either use no undies or try something a little lighter, maybe a nude would be good.

Nail art for a change

So this week I am on vacation in San Diego. I have several manis to post so I will try to take some time to get them up. Its been a hectic few days, my apologies.

I decided to do some nail art because I was getting a little bored with plain glitter manis. For this I decided to use 2 coats of OPI Thanks A Windmillion and added white dots with China Glaze and the larger end of one of my double sided dotting tools. For the accent nails I taped off the green then added the white stripe down the middle and added clear rhinestones. This is with two coats of Seche Vite on top and I am really surprised that the rhinestones lasted like 4 days. I HATE having texture on my nails so I was pretty proud of myself for not picking them up.

Please excuse my dry cuticles and my photo shop skills (or lack there of). Speaking of photo editing, does anyone know of any good photo editing programs for mac??

I like this mani and it makes me kind of miss nail art. After I get through all my etsy swatches I'll start doing more nail art.. Maybe I'll even get really wild and start doing nail art with my etsy glitters.. hmm... until next time! Have a great week!
